| Dry Hair Remedies |
Thanks to developments in the hair care industry over the years, there are many hair remedies out there from shampoo/conditioners, to hot oil treatments, to aromatherapy. I will touch on these and more.
Hair actually has a moisture content, and that content is about 10%, when that moisture content falls below that level, the hair problems start. The first sign is dry and dull looking hair and that is caused by too little oil from what is called the sebaceous gland at the root, but there are other sources that dry out the hair, like dry air in the home or office, the wind itself, swimming in chlorinated pools, or the just plain sun.
The most obvious place to start is with shampooing. Many think that it is a good thing to shampoo your hair everyday. The best thing for your hair is to shampoo every two to three days. Shampooing everyday, takes away those precious oils at the roots.
When you do shampoo, make sure that you pay special attention to the roots more than the shafts or ends, and that goes for when you condition your hair as well. Make sure that before you use a shampoo to know what kind of hair you have – what kind of PH your hair is, that will determine the best shampoo for you.
When you use conditioner, always towel dry so that you get rid of as moisture as possible before you apply. When you do apply, leave it in for about three minutes so that it gets right into the roots, that way you will have made sure that you have the best coverage. Conditioner is also important for those who blow dry their hair, as blow drying really dries it out if you are like most people who use too high a setting. Always use a low setting when blow drying to ensure you don’t dry your hair out, causing damage.
Aromatherapies, hot oil treatments, and food therapies are now being given a lot of attention because of a more natural way to maintain your body’s natural oils. A good recipe for aromatherapy is six drops of lavender, with bay, sandalwood, and six ounces of sesame or soy oil. Apply to the hair, and wrap in a towel for minutes and rinse. It is much the same as a hot oil treatment using jasmine. If you eat fresh fish twice a week, it is good for the hair because it has Omega 3 fatty acids in it, and when flax oil is added, it makes it even more beneficial.
Of course, going to the salon regularly for trims or cuts, revitalizes your hair because it rids you of split ends. The above are a short list of basic ways to keep your hair in peak condition by using remedies that have been proven to work, so try one and see! |
